About CAPE (Child Aid Program for Education)

CAPE (Child Aid Program for Education) is a non-profit initiative dedicated to enhancing educational opportunities for children in underfunded schools in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Created and managed by the Angkor Tour Guide Team, our program focuses on providing vital support to improve the quality of education and well-being for these children.

Our Impact

  • Education: We provide free English classes to children in need, ensuring they have access to quality schooling and the chance to build a brighter future.
  • Healthcare: We assist children in receiving free medical treatment, addressing their health needs and promoting overall well-being.
  • Community and Family Support: We offer essential support to families and communities, providing assistance in times of need and strengthening the networks that help individuals thrive.

From our humble beginnings to our current global presence, CAPE remains committed to transforming lives through education, health, and community support.

Our Story

In 2007, Mr. Mara Long, a former Buddhist monk and member of the Angkor Wat Tour Guide Team, collaborated with Mr. Francisco Aceituno to address critical needs in the villages surrounding Angkor Wat Temple. They began by purchasing school books for local children, but their efforts quickly revealed broader challenges facing these communities.

The children were struggling with limited access to education, inadequate living conditions, and scarce resources such as food and clean drinking water. The local state schools only provided half-day classes, leaving students with idle afternoons that often led them into unproductive or harmful activities, further distancing them from their education.

Determined to make a meaningful impact, Mara and Francisco worked to connect with individuals and organizations who wanted to help. They guided supporters on how to effectively contribute to the community, transforming their concern into tangible support for the children and their families.

Today, CAPE (Child Aid Program for Education) continues to build on these initial efforts, striving to improve educational opportunities, health, and overall well-being for children in need.
